Steve Brown
Former President & CEO Evergreen Hospital Medical Center

"Community leadership has always been an integral part of who I am from the very beginning, and the opportunity I was given to be a founding member of the LE Board has been one of the most personally and professionally rewarding community-related experiences of my career. IÕve had a front row seat, watching LE bloom from an idea and concept on the parts of a lot of very smart and committed people, into a regional community leadership program that is making positive impacts throughout all our Eastside communities, and IÕm really proud of that! Evergreen Hospital Medical Center has supported five staff members to participate in the LE program from the beginning, and theyÕve all come back to our organization more confident, more engaged, and more committed to truly making a positive difference in their respective communities. We all benefit from the work of Leadership Eastside, in so many ways, and are deeply grateful for the great work that you do."

LE: The Next Generation

Leadership Eastside is the next generation regional leadership development program, distinguished by a focus on enriching leadership capabilities and building regional perspectives. LE is a community resource supported by a broad base of public, private and not-for-profit organizations committed to the health and vitality of the Eastside region.

Leadership Eastside launched its inaugural class in the fall of 2005. Participants and LE become partners: LE offers three years of support as participants evolve from student into a leadership position in the community. Class participants are asked to personally invest themselves in the program through a commitment of time, partial payment of tuition (minimum 10 percent), and their long-term interest in growing as a community leader.

Benefits to the Community

LE offers the Eastside regional community and partner organizations the benefits of:

  • Enhancing leadership succession potential
  • Expanding outreach to all sectors of the community
  • A regional focus on problem-solving
  • Diversity of participants and thought processes
  • Significant class projects that make a difference in the community
  • Increased knowledge of key issues facing our communities and cities.
